Cody Hubley joins Kim to discuss his article on student debt. There is $1.75 trillion in student loans, and much of this, $1.2 trillion, through SLABs (Student Loan Asset Back Securities) held by banks that taxpayers are responsible for if default occurs. This is just not a millennial problem as many of the loans are held by baby boomers (loans for themselves, children and/or grandchildren). Here in Colorado $26 billion is held by 734,000 students in school debt. Shouldn’t school endowments be used for student’s tuition and debt? Endowments at a few schools: Harvard is $40.9 billion, Yale is 30.3 billion, and University of Colorado is $1.45 billion. Let them “have some skin in the game.” Read Cody’s op-ed on the subject here.
Candidate Jonathan Woodley for House District 5 (Denver) explains to Kim that he is running because he is “tired of living in the shadow.” Jonathan wants to bring leadership back and help develop candidates in order to push the needle toward “conserving” principals instead of allowing socialism’s momentum to continue.
