Adam Andrzejewski, CEO and founder of Open the Books, joins Kim for an interview. Open the Books is dedicated to making government spending transparent and easy-t0-trace. Government spending done out of the public eye leads to special deals, corruption, and the advancement of special agendas. Andrzejewski points to the back-scratching arrangement that seems to be in place at the National Institute of Health. Billions of dollars in government grants are awarded to tens of thousands of recipients. But third parties also send money back to the agency in the form of royalty payments, much of which is awarded to NIH scientists as co-inventors.
