Sixth generation farmer and rancher Trent Loos shares his experiences at the National Western Stock Show and addresses our food security and energy security. The Suncor refinery in Colorado has indefinitely shut down after sustaining damage due to a fire. This will likely hike up the price of energy as well as stunt its availability. The attacks on fossil fuels and the vulnerabilities in our electric grid will harm the transport and production of food. New oil refineries in the US have not been built since 1979, which will be detrimental to oil supply in the long term. Bad public policy is preventing fossil fuels from proliferating.
