Distinguished American Civil War historian and author Allen Guelzo joins Kim on the Fourth of July to discuss the Battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg was fought over July 1-3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. One of the major engagements of the Civil War, Guelzo defines Gettysburg as “the defense & justification of the proposition upon which our nation is founded upon – that is, that all men are created equal.” Listen to the full interview in the first hour.

Author Scott S. Powell joins Kim to discuss his book, Rediscovering America. The book focuses on understanding the origin and meanings of America’s national holidays as an important reminder of who we are and where we come from.
