Elizabeth Nolan Brown, Senior Editor with REASON, explains that the RESTRICT Act has bigger ambitions than TikTok. The RESTRICT Act is like a second Patriot Act in that it entails an overreach of government surveillance supposedly in the name of protecting national security. The RESTRICT Act would have serious lasting consequences for liberty and privacy if it were to be passed. The main point of the RESTRICT Act is that it would ban Tiktok in the US, although it would leverage other changes that impact liberty and privacy. Listen to the full interview in the second hour.

Interview with Brad Beck

Brad Beck joins Kim to discuss his forthcoming essay. In this piece, Beck discusses verbiage and the inclination towards creating word salad that has become common in modern discourse. Language is being used to divide us when it could instead be used to unite people. Words and semantics are being used to dismantle traditional American values. The increasingly rampant usage of AI technology in academia (ie ChatGPT) is contributing to the devaluation and misuse of language in today’s society. Listen to the full interview in the first hour.

Interview with Mark Oliva

Mark Oliva with the National Shooting Sports Foundation discusses the firearms legislation at the Colorado State Capitol that would prevent us from protecting ourselves against bad actors. There are numerous bills circulating that would restrict gun rights, such as HB23-1165, which limits the ability of gun owners to practice marksmanship on their own properties. The government is taking incremental steps to chip away at second amendment rights. Listen to the full interview in the first hour.
