The ballot question
SHALL EAGLE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT RE50J TAXES BE INCREASED $10.1 MILLION IN TAX COLLECTION YEAR 2027 AND ANNUALLY THEREAFTER BY AN AMOUNT THAT, WHEN COMBINED WITH PRIOR VOTER APPROVED LEVIES FOR THE GENERAL FUND, EQUALS THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 22-54-108(3)(B)(VI), WHICH WOULD COST A HOMEOWNER AN ESTIMATED $11 PER MONTH PER $1,000,000 OF ASSESSED VALUE BASED ON ASSESSMENT RATES AS OF DECEMBER 2025 AND DOES NOT REFLECT FUTURE CHANGES IN ASSESSED VALUE, ASSESSMENT RATE, OR LAW, TO FUND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES OF THE DISTRICT, INCLUDING: • RETAINING AND ATTRACTING HIGH-QUALITY TEACHERS AND SUPPORT STAFF BY OFFERING SALARIES COMPETITIVE WITH NEIGHBORING MOUNTAIN DISTRICTS; • STRENGTHENING READING, WRITING, AND MATH INSTRUCTION TO IMPROVE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT; • RESTORING ART, MUSIC, AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTION; • ENSURING CONTINUED STUDENT ACCESS TO MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS; PROVIDED THAT NO REVENUES SHALL BE UTILIZED FOR SENIOR DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION, AND SUCH REVENUES SHALL BE DEPOSITED IN THE GENERAL FUND, TO BE USED FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, AND SUCH TAXES SHALL BE LEVIED PURSUANT TO SECTION 22-54-108 AT A RATE SUFFICIENT TO PRODUCE THE ABOVE AMOUNTS, WHICH LEVY SHALL BE IN ADDITION TO THE PROPERTY TAXES THAT OTHERWISE WOULD BE LEVIED FOR THE GENERAL FUND; AND SHALL THE REVENUE FROM SUCH TAXES AND INVESTMENT EARNINGS THEREON BE COLLECTED, RETAINED AND SPENT AS A VOTER-APPROVED REVENUE CHANGE AND EXEMPT FROM THE LIMITS OF ARTICLE X, SECTION 20 OF THE COLORADO CONSTITUTION OR ANY OTHER LAW?
