About This Book
Gold, Peace, and Prosperity is Ron Paul’s influential monograph arguing that sound money backed by gold is the essential foundation for economic stability, peace, and prosperity. First published in 1981, the work has been in wide distribution ever since and remains a foundational text for advocates of the gold standard.
Paul makes the case that fiat currency systems inevitably lead to inflation, economic instability, and the erosion of individual liberty. He traces the relationship between sound money and peaceful international relations, arguing that nations on a gold standard are less likely to engage in aggressive wars because they cannot simply print money to fund military adventures.
The pocket edition published by the Mises Institute in 2011 made the work even more accessible, introducing Paul’s monetary philosophy to a new generation of readers during a period of renewed interest in monetary reform following the 2008 financial crisis.
