Antoinette De La Cruz is a detransitioned woman and advocate with Protect Kids Colorado who has become a public voice for detransition stories in Colorado. She shares her personal experience of undergoing irreversible surgeries during her 14-year transition, including removal of healthy organs and near-death complications.
De La Cruz describes how she was encouraged to medically transition without sufficient psychological evaluation, stating she was told it would fix her emotional struggles but instead left her with lasting harm. Her transition began as an attempt to cope with longstanding trauma rooted in feeling undervalued as a woman from childhood. Through faith, counseling, and spiritual guidance, she found healing.
On the Kim Monson Show, De La Cruz advocated for Protect Kids Colorado's ballot initiative to prevent minors from receiving gender transition procedures. The ballot initiatives did not ultimately succeed, but she continues to share her story to educate parents and policymakers about the dangers she believes these procedures pose to children and young people.
De La Cruz has participated in public events including "Heartbreak to Hope: The Dangers of Childhood Transition and How You Can Protect Colorado's Most Vulnerable" at Dayspring Christian Church in Fort Collins, encouraging parents to seek counseling and spiritual guidance for children struggling with identity issues.
