Dilemma

A situation requiring a difficult choice between two or more alternatives, especially equally undesirable ones; a state of uncertainty or perplexity.

From Greek 'di-' meaning 'two' and 'lemma' meaning 'premise' or 'assumption.' Originally a term in logic and rhetoric referring to an argument presenting two alternatives, both unfavorable.
