Discursive

Relating to discourse or reasoning; proceeding through argument or discussion rather than intuition; characterized by analytical reasoning or wide-ranging exploration of topics.

From Latin 'discursus' meaning 'a running about,' derived from 'discurrere' (to run to and fro). In medieval philosophy, it distinguished step-by-step reasoning from immediate intuition.
