Governed

Subject to the authority, direction, or control of a government; managed or regulated by those in power with the implied consent of the populace.

From Middle English 'governen,' from Old French 'governer,' from Latin 'gubernare' meaning 'to steer, pilot, or direct,' originally a nautical term derived from Greek 'kybernan' meaning 'to steer a ship.'

Usage Examples
