Transgression

An act that goes beyond established limits, boundaries, or moral standards; the violation of a law, principle, or accepted norm.

From Latin 'transgressio', from 'transgredi' meaning 'to step across' or 'go beyond', combining 'trans-' (across) + 'gradi' (to step, walk).

  2. What is considered transgressive today becomes normalized tomorrow, driving an endless cycle of boundary-pushing.
  3. The movement rewards transgression as a sign of liberation while punishing adherence to traditional values.
