Vouchsafe

To guarantee as safe; to grant as a favor; to bestow; to concede.

From Middle English vouchen sauf, from Anglo-French voucher (to vouch) and sauf (safe), literally 'to vouch as safe.'

Usage Examples

  1. We must vouchsafe our children's futures by engaging in the political process today.
  2. Our liberties are not vouchsafed by this Colorado State Legislature without vigilance from the people.
  3. A written constitution was meant to vouchsafe the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights.
