Amendment 84 Amendment 84 (Initiative 362): Requiring a signature and an identification number on returned mail ballots
Requires a signature and qualifying ID number on mail ballots in federal or statewide elections; discrepancies must be corrected.
Two questions move a regular municipal election. Aurora 3D would move city elections to even-numbered years and allow one-time shortened terms to make the change. Lake City 2A would move town elections from April to November in even-numbered years, starting in 2028, and anticipates extending current trustees' terms. Longmont 3C would adopt ranked choice voting for mayor and council from November 2029; the ballot does not say how the counting would work. Representation questions decide whether seats are elected by district, at large or in a mix, and Douglas County 1A and 201 take effect only if the board grows to five members. Longmont 3D would put the three at-large seats and the three ward seats on alternating election cycles, and takes effect only if 3C passes. Lakewood 2J is separate: it lengthens the window for holding an election on a citizen initiative or referendum to between 60 and 150 days after petitions are found sufficient. The statewide ballot carries three. Amendment 84 (Initiative 362) would require a voter in a federal or statewide election to sign a returned mail ballot and write an identification number on it, and would bar a county clerk and recorder from counting the ballot until a missing or unmatched entry is corrected. Amendment 85 (Initiative 234) would require ballot questions to be written in plain language at no more than an eighth-grade reading level. Amendment 86 (Initiative 256) would bar changes to a final congressional map without three public meetings, the commission's approval and the Colorado Supreme Court's adoption.

Requires state and local ballot questions to be written in plain language at no more than an eighth-grade reading level.
Reenacts congressional redistricting rules. Changes to final maps for 2028 or later require at least three public meetings, commission approval and Colorado Supreme Court adoption; the commission may not adopt a plan that divides communities of interest or purposefully favors one political party.
