Jay Conley serves as Vice Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4797 in Afton, Wyoming. He is the lead organizer of Wyoming Welcomes The Wall That Heals, which is bringing the traveling three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to Star Valley, Wyoming, July 9 through 12, 2026. Afton was selected as the only Wyoming stop on the 2026 tour, one of 31 sites chosen from roughly 150 applications. Conley and his team have organized a motorcade escort from Alpine, volunteer training, and an opening ceremony, and they have raised funds so that veterans who are physically or financially unable to travel to Washington, D.C., can visit the memorial close to home. He appeared on America’s Veterans Stories with Kim Monson to discuss the project.
