Francis de Geus is the incoming president of Liberty Toastmasters North, one of the Colorado clubs that combine public speaking with the study of the Constitution and the principles of liberty. Born and raised in Holland, he immigrated to the United States about thirty years ago and became a citizen twenty-four years ago, an event he describes as receiving an inheritance he is determined to honor.

He is the author of The Integrity Code: A Spiritual Blueprint for Creating Meaningful Success, a book built on three principles he considers inseparable: love, truth, and freedom. Rather than dwelling on what is wrong in the culture, the book uses stories to show how individuals create a positive impact through integrity.

On the Kim Monson Show, de Geus argued that the formal rules written in the Constitution endure only when citizens live by informal rules, the virtues a free republic depends on. Quoting Frederick Douglass, he reminded listeners that the life of the nation is secure only while the nation is honest, truthful, and virtuous.

“But there's also the informal rules, which are part of what makes this country work, right? And what makes this republic work, and which keeps liberty alive. And to me, that is the virtues that we have to embody in ourselves.”
