Interview with Toby Damisch

Douglas County Assessor Toby Damisch explains that taxing authorities could lower mill levies to offer relief. Douglas County is currently grappling with an unprecedented influx of over 35,000 property tax appeals this year, far surpassing the usual expectation of around 10%. This extraordinary surge in appeals can, in part, be attributed to the repeal of the Gallagher Amendment. Property tax rates are on the rise for all residents, without exception, underscoring the urgency for comprehensive reform and simplification of the property tax system. In this context, Damisch, a prominent advocate for change, urges viewers to engage with their county officials and actively participate in the appeal process to address this pressing issue.

Interview with Lori Gimelshteyn and Daniel Fenalson

Lori Gimelshteyn with Colorado Parents Advocacy Network discusses their upcoming school safety summit. The Colorado Parent Advocacy Network is hosting a school safety summit this Sunday at Saint Thomas Moore Church. Among the panelists, Daniel, a survivor of the 2014 Seattle Pacific University shooting, will be sharing his insights and experiences, contributing to the important discussions surrounding school safety during the event.
