Fiscal policy expert Joshua Sharf discusses PERA benefits for retirees. Did you know that 21% of Douglas County School District’s payroll goes to PERA contributions? And Douglas County school teachers pay an additional 11% of their pay to PERA. PERA has been underfunded, hence the efforts to compensate for it by drawing from teacher funds. Bills have supplemented the funding for PERA over the past 20 years. Since then, the original amount of money that employees are paying towards it has more than doubled. Lowering the retirement age may sound appealing in theory, but the problems outweigh the benefits. For instance, it would increase the portion of an employee’s paycheck that goes to PERA. Having to pay for others’ retirement funds before you can set anything aside for your own is unfair. Listen to the full interview in the first hour.

Interview with Vicki Sutter and Lisa MacLean

Vicki Sutter and Lisa MacLean with Winsome Ministries in Northern Colorado explain that churches and individuals must be brave to address the evils in our society. Winsome is a new nonprofit Christian ministry that began in Fall of 2021, administering early treatment for Covid. Winsome is starting the “Be Brave” movement which seeks to uplift youth and deepen their connection with their faith. Kids are in more danger now than ever per the spread of indoctrination, which is why they need care and support from a positive community. Progressive groups such as The Trevor Project bombard children with harmful messages promoting “socially contagious behaviors” such as suicide or being LGBT (the idea is that awareness for these issues compels kids to become gay or kill themselves?). School districts are complicit in these activities. Christian religious liberty is being restricted by legislation preventing Christian counselors from counseling according to their conscience. Listen to the full interview in the second hour.
