Patriotic historian and West Point graduate Ben Martin discusses intriguing details regarding the end of our Revolutionary War. The Siege of Yorktown was the final battle of the revolutionary war fought on US soil. The Continental Congress promised fighters in the Revolutionary War that they would receive pensions for their work. Following the Siege of Yorktown, Congress was unable to come through on this promise. George Washington and Horatio Gates (a general renowned for his role in the battles of Saratoga) came together and vowed to get the soldiers their pensions, one way or another.
