Douglas County Assessor Toby Damisch joins Kim to discuss the steep increase in Colorado property assessments. In 2023, property assessments have undergone a substantial surge primarily attributed to the comprehensive reappraisals conducted. Notably, the period from June 2020 to June 2022 marked an unprecedented escalation in residential real estate values within a two-year span in the history of Colorado. This surge in property values has been exacerbated by a lack of attention from the state legislature regarding recent appraisals, contributing significantly to the existing landscape of property assessments. Moreover, the prevailing state regulations afford assessors minimal leeway, arguably imposing some of the most stringent operational constraints in the nation.

Interview with Real Clear Politics Editor Peder Zane

Editor at Real Clear Politics Peder Zane discusses The New York Times article regarding Joe Biden and Hunter’s business deals. In his latest article titled From Scandal to Nothingburger, the author delves into the New York Times’ strategies for shaping Biden’s public perception. The piece highlights how the Times, while presenting accurate information, has utilized potentially deceptive methods such as manipulating language in headlines to subtly tilt narratives in favor of Biden. Furthermore, the publication has displayed a pattern of downplaying Biden’s stance on his son Hunter’s questionable dealings. Notably, the New York Times has taken a particularly troubling approach by portraying Devon Archer’s recent testimonies as evidence of both GOP overreach and an endorsement of Biden’s political agenda. However, neither of these interpretations aligns with the factual reality of the situation.
