School board members Bryson Miller and Mick Bates offer their perspectives on the CEA Resolution, Colorado Social Studies Standards, and the Colorado Association of School Boards, all of which were discussed and voted upon at the 97th Annual Delegates Assembly of the Colorado Education Association in April, where a decision was made to condemn capitalism officially. Miller, a school board member in Brush, Colorado, and Bates, a Woodland Park School Board member, expressed their views regarding the resolution passed by the Colorado Education Association during their assembly in April, where the association officially stated its belief that capitalism is intrinsically exploitative. Notably, school boards in rural areas of Colorado, including Woodland Park, voiced their opposition to these statements, emphasizing the importance of schools upholding American values and actively speaking out against any efforts to defame the country’s foundational principles.

Interview with Ryan Graham

School board member Ryan Graham discusses a proclamation passed addressing boys in boy’s bathrooms and girls in girl’s bathrooms. Graham serves as a school board member at Monument Academy in El Paso County. In a unanimous decision last year, Monument Academy issued a proclamation expressing their belief that bills S.B. 08-200 and H.B. 21-1108, which aim to protect transgender individuals from discrimination, have the potential to negatively impact children. Specifically, they expressed concerns about transgender individuals using bathrooms that do not align with their biological sex. In light of these concerns, a town hall meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow night to mobilize the community and address their apprehensions regarding what they perceive as a transgender agenda. It is important to note that while Monument Academy does not discriminate based on sex or gender identity, they maintain the stance that one’s biological sex should take precedence over their gender identity.
