Lauren Fix discusses Fisker Inc.’s business woes and likely pending bankruptcy. Fisker, a California-based electric vehicle startup, faces severe financial challenges as its shares were halted and it is set to be delisted by the New York Stock Exchange due to “abnormally low” price levels, after warning it might not survive the year due to cash shortages. The company’s stock plummeted from a valuation of nearly $8 billion in 2021 to under $50 million, exacerbated by failed talks with a major automaker and critical reviews of its sole product, the Fisker Ocean electric SUV, highlighting significant operational and market competition issues. Kim Monson's Quote of the Day:
April 3, 2024

In every single day, in every walk of life, ordinary people do extraordinary things.

Jim Valvano

Jim Valvano, affectionately known as Jimmy V, was an iconic figure in American college basketball, both as a player and coach. Born in 1946, Valvano’s infectious enthusiasm and charismatic leadership became his hallmark. He is best remembered for coaching North Carolina State University to a miraculous NCAA Championship win in 1983, an underdog victory that has since become a symbol of hope and determination in sports. Beyond his coaching achievements, Valvano’s legacy is profoundly marked by his courageous battle with cancer and his inspiring “Don’t Give Up…Don’t Ever Give Up!” speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards. This speech led to the establishment of the V Foundation for Cancer Research, which has raised millions for cancer research. Valvano’s enduring message of hope, perseverance, and the importance of laughter, love, and self-reflection continues to inspire many, making his impact far-reaching beyond basketball. Jim Valvano passed away in 1993, but his spirit and legacy live on.
