In 2021, a Colorado Politics article revealed that nearly half a billion dollars were spent on homelessness in the Denver Metro area, and in his latest essay Exactly Wrong: Democrats and Housing/Homelessness, author Rick Turnquist argues that as long as Politicians, Bureaucrats, and Interested Parties (PBIs) profit from this tragedy, the issue of homelessness will remain unsolvable. In his analysis, Turnquist delves into the multifaceted issue of homelessness, particularly its prevalence in America’s larger cities. He identifies a correlation between this problem and certain leftist policies, highlighting factors like the high cost of living and the decriminalization of street drugs as significant contributors. While Turnquist acknowledges that reversing these policies won’t completely eradicate homelessness, he suggests that such actions could lead to a reduction in crime and help alleviate the severity of the homelessness crisis, even though the issue might never be fully resolved. Denver Metro Real Estate Update with Karen Levine and Lorne Levy

RE/MAX realtor Karen Levine and mortgage expert Lorne Levy note the latest regarding the metro real estate market. The landscape of inflation and interest rates is poised for significant changes in 2024, particularly influenced by the dynamics of an election year. Concurrently, the Denver metro area is experiencing a period of stability in home values, maintaining a relatively consistent market. However, this stability is juxtaposed against a backdrop of nationwide implementation of subsidized housing plans, which are giving rise to a multitude of challenges. Additionally, the interplay of homelessness and immigration is exerting downward pressure on housing prices, primarily due to growing safety concerns. This complex interconnection of factors is shaping the housing market in unique ways. Listen to the full interview in the second hour.
