We must have active, aggressive, forest management ; 60% of funding of the forestry budget goes to fire suppression instead of proactive management of landscape. The southeast is very aggressive about prescribed fires, a forest management tool to reduce fuel loadings. The fire triangle consists of fuel, oxygen and heat. Reduce any one of these and fires become more manageable. Attention must be focused on building resilient watersheds and communities to reduce risk.
