Executive Director of Protect the Harvest Mike Siemens discusses the organization’s goals and mission. Protect The Harvest is an organization founded in 2011 with the mission to defend and preserve the freedoms of American farmers, ranchers, and animal owners. Its inception was motivated by the increasing pressures and regulatory challenges faced by those in agriculture and animal husbandry, aiming to counteract what it perceives as attacks from animal rights groups and overly burdensome government regulations. Protect The Harvest advocates for the right to farm, the promotion of agricultural education, and the protection of animal welfare, emphasizing a distinction between animal welfare and animal rights. The organization engages in awareness campaigns, educational programs, and legislative efforts to support and advance the interests of the agricultural and animal ownership communities. Through its activities, Protect The Harvest seeks to ensure the continuation of American agricultural practices and the preservation of the rural way of life. Interview with Kevin Lundberg

Former State Senator Kevin Lundberg notes the latest legislation and political news under Colorado’s Golden Dome. Establishment Republicans are reportedly making efforts to restrain Representative Boebert, a situation that unfolds amidst her decision not to participate in the special election for Congressional District 4 (CD4). This choice is made so she can complete her ongoing term in Congress. This move, however, positions the Republicans at a disadvantage in CD4, primarily due to issues of uneven representation. In the legislative arena, HB 24-1375 is on the table, proposing the establishment of “native-carnivore coexistence officers,” a measure aimed at safeguarding wildlife, including wolves. Concurrently, HB 24-1292 is stirring debate as it seeks to impose restrictions on gun ownership, specifically targeting the ban of all types of AR rifles, in an effort to curb mass shootings. These developments highlight a complex interplay of political strategy, conservation efforts, and gun control debates within the current political landscape. Listen to the full interview in the first hour.

Kim Monson's Quote of the Day:
March 19, 2024

Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines your destiny.

Aristotle (384-322 BCE), a foundational figure in Western philosophy, was a Greek polymath who made pioneering contributions across multiple fields of study, including metaphysics, ethics, logic, politics, and science. A student of Plato and tutor to Alexander the Great, Aristotle diverged from his mentor by emphasizing empirical observation and the systematic categorization of knowledge, thereby laying crucial groundwork for the scientific method. His ethical theory, centered on virtue ethics, posits that a virtuous character is central to achieving eudaimonia, or true happiness. Aristotle’s political theory advocated for a balanced constitutional government, and his work in logic, particularly the development of the syllogism, significantly advanced deductive reasoning. Despite the loss of many of his works, Aristotle’s surviving texts continue to exert a profound influence on Western thought, shaping disciplines from ethics and politics to biology and metaphysics, centuries after his death.
